What's the value of Citi ThankYou Rewards points? 1 cent per point. This means 10,000 ThankYou points are worth $100 on average.

Here's the full breakdown on how much The Point Calculator values ThankYou Rewards points:

Redemption options Redemption value in cents
Point transfers to airline partners 1 - 2
Point transfers to hotel partners 0.6 - 1
Redeeming points through Citi ThankYou travel portal 1
Cash back redemptions with Citi Double Cash or Citi Custom Cash 1
Point redemptions on Amazon.com 0.8
Cash back redemptions with other Citi credit cards 0.5

Transfers to airline partners: 1 cent to 2 cents per point.

Citi ThankYou Points can be transferred to over 10 frequent flyer partners, mostly at a 1:1 ratio. This means that every 1,000 points you transfer will give you 1,000 airline miles with the partner program.

Transferring your Citi ThankYou points to airline partners will typically offer the best value. You can expect around 1 to 1.5 cents in value when transferring points and redeeming them for standard economy flights and as much as 2 cents in value per point for premium and First/Business class redemptions.

Here's a few of Citi's best airline partners:

JetBlue TrueBlue

The Citi ThankYou Rewards program is one of the best programs for earning points transferable to JetBlue due to the 1:1 transfer ratio and 3X offerings of the Citi Premier Card.

JetBlue Points have an average value of 1.3 cents each, though it's not possible to get as much as 1.5 cents for some flights. If you enjoy flying JetBlue and you're trying to build points, the Citi ThankYou Rewards program is the route to take.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue

The Flying Blue program is part of the SkyTeam Alliance which means you can use miles to book on partners such as Delta Airlines, Aeromexico, and Korean Air.

You can find great value in Flying Blue Miles when booking one-way flights between the U.S. and Europe, especially from the East Coast. Flying Blue also has monthly promotions which can greatly increase the value of miles.

Qantas Frequent Flyer

Qantas is the flag carrier of Australia. Qantas Points have an average value of 1.4 cents each for your basic redemptions, but first and business class flights can yield significantly higher value.

Singapore KrisFlyer

Singapore KrisFlyer has a large number of 'sweet spots', but the best of them all is flying in Singapore's in-air Suites. These suites are the definition of luxury and is one of the best experiences points and miles can buy.

If you're in need of KrisFlyer Miles, you're in luck because they are a 1:1 transfer partner of all major US credit card rewards programs. This makes it very easy to earn hundreds of thousands of miles in the program using welcome bonuses earned with Citi, Chase, American Express, and Capital One credit cards.

Singapore Suites

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

Virgin Atlantic is part of the SkyTeam alliance which includes Delta, Air France, Aeromexico and several others.

One of the best ways to redeem Flying Club Miles for high value is by using them to book Delta One flights between the US East Coast & Europe and the US West Coast & Asia. This can give you redemption values of up to 3 cents or more depending on the route.

Booking the same flight using Delta's own SkyMiles will typically cost you a lot more than booking it through Virgin Atlantic.

Transfers to hotel partners: 0.6 cents to 1 cent per point.

Citi Points can be transferred to both Choice Privileges and Wyndham Rewards. Citi point transfers to either program will not get you as much value as transferring to airline miles, but it's possible to get at least 1 cent in value with a little bit of research.

Choice Privileges

Choice is a great transfer partner due to the large footprint it has in the hotel market. You can find Choice brand hotels in most major cities as well as in cities 'off the beaten path' where other big hotel brands are nowhere to be found.

Choice Hotels will generally not offer you much value in the States, but you can find some great value of 1 cents or more booking Choice brand hotels in popular international destinations, especially in expensive European cities.

Travel booked through Thankyou.com: 1 cent per point.

Citi ThankYou Points can be used to book travel through the ThankYou Rewards portal. This will give your points a value of 1 cent each no matter which ThankYou credit card you have.

Within the portal you can book a flight, hotel, or car rental. Citi will let you know the value of your points so that you're well aware of how much you're working with.

Booking through the portal is pretty straightforward. It will even let you know the value of your points so that you know how much value you're getting out of your redemption.

Redeeming points for cash back: 0.5 cents to 1 cent per point.

ThankYou Points can be redeemed for cash back as a statement credit, direct deposit, or a check by mail. Your points will be worth anywhere from 0.5 cents to 1 cent depending on which ThankYou Point-earning card you're using to redeem them.

ThankYou Points - Cash Back Redemptions
Citi Card Point Value (in cents)
Citi Double Cash Card 1
Citi Custom Cash Card 1
Citi Premier Card 0.5
Citi Rewards+ Card 0.5
Citi AT&T Access 0.5
Citi Prestige Card 0.5
Citi ThankYou Preferred Card 0.5

Redeeming points for gift cards: 1 cent per point.

ThankYou Points can be redeemed for over 100 gift cards at a value of 1 cent per point. Redemptions start as low as 1,000 points for a $10 gift card.

Most of the gift cards in the portal allow you to choose between receiving an electronic code (e-gift card) or receiving it by mail.

Amazon Shop with Points: 0.8 cents per point.

Amazon's Shop with Points allows you to use rewards earned with various rewards programs to pay for your purchases on Amazon.com. When using ThankYou Rewards Points, your points will be worth 0.8 cents each.

The benefit to redeeming your points through Amazon, is that Amazon occasionally offers cash off when you use rewards points to pay for your purchase.

The offer that they have usually reads something like:

"Get $X/X% off when you use Ultimate Rewards Points to pay for your purchases"

While your mileage may very (YMMV), this will usually trigger using 1 rewards point. So, for example, you could redeem 1 ThankYou Point for $30 off and pay the remaining balance with your card.

So while you've redeemed a single point at a value of 0.8 cents, you've saved a big chunk of money on your purchase.

If you shop on Amazon.com frequently, I highly suggest jumping over to the Amazon Shop with Points page and linking your ThankYou Rewards account as well as any other account that participate in the program as it can save you a great deal on your purchases.

The following credit cards and rewards programs participate in the Amazon Shop with Points program:

Other Shop with Points retailers: varies by retailer.

ThankYou Points can be redeem with several other retailers using Shop with Points. This includes:

  • PayPal
  • CVS
  • BP / Amoco (Gas)
  • Shell
  • 1800Flowers.com
