The Chase Freedom Unlimited is a great no-annual fee cash back card that earns a high return on Chase Ultimate Rewards Portal spending, dining, and drugstore purchases. The card also earns a solid 1.5% cash back on all non-category purchases which makes it a great option for miscellaneous spend.
If you want to calculate the rewards in Ultimate Rewards Points, you can use the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card (UR) Calculator.
|Authorized User Fee|
|Foreign Transaction Fee|
The Chase Freedom Unlimited Card has four bonus categories which are travel purchases through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal, dining, drugstore, and Lyft. There's no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn spending in these categories and no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn with the card overall.
- 5% Chase Travel
- Travel must be purchased through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Portal.
- 5% Lyft
- This category is part of the Chase-Lyft partnership. This category ends March 2022. Unknown if it will be extended beyond that.
- 3% Dining
- 3% Drugstore
- 1.5% Non-Category
Perks & Benefits
The Chase Freedom Unlimited includes DoorDash benefits and Chase's usual line-up of travel and purchase protections.
- DoorDash Benefits
- 3 months of DashPass membership; 50% off DashPass after membership expires (auto enrolled).
- Travel & Purchase Coverage
Sign Up Bonus
The sign up bonus for the Freedom Unlimited Card is $200 after spending $500 within the first 3 months of account opening. You'll also earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (does not include Walmart or Target) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.
The Chase Freedom Unlimited Card does not have an annual fee which is superb considering the earning rates of the card and the fact that you can redeem these rewards for 1.25/1.5 cents if you have an Ultimate Rewards Credit Card.
Authorized User Fee
There is no fee to add authorized users to the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card. I recommend adding friends and family to the card to easily help build up your rewards.
Foreign Transaction Fee
The Chase Freedom Unlimited Card has a 3% foreign transaction fee which makes it a bad option for international spend.
You can use the rewards calculator to calculate how many points, miles, or cash back you can earn based on your spend per category. This calculator will also give you the dollar value of the card based on the value of the rewards earned and how much each benefit is worth to you, minus the annual fees. You can click the Compare A Card button to compare this card side by side any other card featured on the site within the same calculator.
Note! All category spend entered in the primary card's column (first column when comparing cards) will carry over to all credit card calculators on the site. This means you will not have to re-enter the same information again and again when browsing during the session.
