How to earn points

The Ink Business Preferred Card earns Ultimate Rewards points at the following rates:

  • 3 points per $1 spent on shipping, advertising with social media sites and search engines, internet, cable and phone services, and travel, on up to the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases across these categories (then 1X).
  • 5 points per $1 spent on Lyft rides through 9/30/27.
  • 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.

The strength here is how well those categories map to real business costs: ad spend and phone/internet bills alone can generate serious points. Max the cap and you'll earn 450,000 points a year. Note the categories don't include dining, gas, or office supply stores, so many businesses pair it with a card that covers those.

Rewards value

Ultimate Rewards points earned with the Ink Business Preferred Card have a wide range of value. The old flat 1.25-cent redemption rate is gone, replaced by a 1-cent baseline and the new Points Boost program, which can lift select flights and hotels booked through Chase Travel to roughly 1.75 cents each.

But the real value — and the whole reason to hold this card — is transfers: the Ink Business Preferred unlocks Chase's airline and hotel partners, where points routinely clear 2 cents on the right redemption.

Perks and benefits

The Ink Business Preferred Card offers complimentary DashPass and additional value booking through Chase Travel with Points Boost.

Complimentary DashPass

Complimentary DashPass membership when you activate, waiving DoorDash delivery fees and lowering service fees on eligible orders — handy for team lunches and office supply runs. A modest but genuine perk on a $95 card.

Points Boost Redemptions

Eligibility for Points Boost, which raises the value of your points on select flights and hotels booked through Chase Travel — up to roughly 1.75 cents each versus the 1-cent baseline.

Availability varies by booking, so it's a nice upside rather than a guaranteed rate; transfers to partners remain the more reliable high-value play.

Insurance and protections

The Ink Business Preferred carries travel and purchase protections that rival cards costing far more — including primary rental coverage and cell phone protection. Coverage requires you to pay for the eligible trip or bill with the card.

Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver

Decline the rental company's collision insurance and charge the entire rental cost to your card. Coverage is primary when renting for business purposes and provides reimbursement up to $60,000 for theft and collision damage for most rental vehicles with an MSRP of $125,000 or less.

Trip Cancellation & Interruption

If your trip is canceled or cut short by sickness, severe weather or other covered situations, you can be reimbursed up to $5,000 per covered traveler and $10,000 per trip for your pre-paid, non-refundable travel expenses, including passenger fares, tours, and hotels.

Cell Phone Protection

Get up to $1,000 per claim in cell phone protection against covered theft or damage for cell phones listed on your monthly cell phone bill when you pay it with your eligible credit card. Maximum of 3 claims in a 12-month period with a $100 deductible per claim.

Purchase Protection

Covers your eligible new purchases for 120 days from the date of purchase against damage or theft up to $10,000 per item.

Extended Warranty Protection

Travel and Emergency Assistance

If you run into a problem while traveling away from home, this benefit provides legal and medical referrals and access to other travel and emergency assistance services. (You will be responsible for the cost of any goods or services obtained.)

Transfer partners

Points earned with the Ink Business Preferred Card can be transferred to 15 partners.

This is the card's main draw: for $95, it unlocks Chase's full transfer partner lineup — and it does so for every no-fee Chase card you hold, since Ultimate Rewards points pool across accounts.

World of Hyatt is the standout, alongside domestic airline partners like United MileagePlus and Southwest Rapid Rewards. There's also British Airways, Air Canada Aeroplan, and Virgin Atlantic, where premium-cabin and short-haul awards deliver the most value.

Pool points from an Chase Ink Business Cash® Credit Card or Chase Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card into this account and transfer the whole balance.

Hyatt Changes: Transfers to World of Hyatt will drop from 1:1 to 4:3 on October 1, 2026 for existing cardholders.

Fees

Annual Fee

The Ink Business Preferred Card has an annual fee of $95.

If you or your business spends heavy across the 3X categories offered on this card, the value of the points earned will pay for itself — especially if you plan on transferring your points to Chase's airline and hotel partners.

Authorized User Fee

There is no fee to add authorized users to the Ink Business Preferred Card. Adding employees as authorized users can help build points faster.

Foreign Transaction Fee

The Ink Business Preferred Card has a 0% foreign transaction fee. This makes it a solid choice for earning points on international spending and travel.

Is it worth it?

The Chase Ink Business Preferred is worth it for most businesses that spend in its categories — a $95 fee is easy to justify given the earning, the transfer access, and protections that rival premium cards. The welcome bonus alone typically covers the fee many times over in the first year.

The category spender: excellent value. If you spend on advertising, shipping, phone/internet, or travel, 3X on up to $150,000 a year is a serious return — and those points become far more valuable transferred to partners like Hyatt and United.

The ecosystem builder: this is the card's quiet superpower. Because it unlocks transfers for all your no-fee Chase points, holding it turns an Ink Business Cash or Unlimited from a cash-back card into a travel-points engine. For $95, it's the cheapest key to Chase's transfer partners on the business side.

Where it falls short: it has no lounge access, travel credits, or any travel-related perks like TSA PreCheck / Global Entry reimbursement — if you want premium travel perks, the Sapphire Reserve for Business or a flat-rate card like the Venture X Business fits better. And its categories skip dining, gas, and office supply stores, so it's rarely a business's only card.

Bottom line: for a business in its bonus categories — or anyone wanting cheap access to Chase transfers — it's one of the best-value business cards available. Run your category spending through the calculator to see what it earns for you.
