Effective 9/22/22, the $300 Marriott Bonvoy statement benefit will no longer be available. It will be replaced with a NEW benefit of up $300 in statement credits per calendar year (up to $25 per month) for eligible purchases at restaurants worldwide.

50,000-Point Free Night Award

Every year, around the card anniversary date, you'll receive a free night award that's good for any hotel that costs 50,000 points or less at the time of booking. This benefit alone can easily be worth hundreds of dollars depending on where it is used.

Free nights can be stacked with free nights earned with other Marriott credit cards.

15 Elite Nights Annually

As a Marriott Bonvoy Card holder, you'll receive 15 elite nights towards top-tier elite status with Marriott. These nights are generally deposited into your account shortly after receiving the card and every January thereafter.

These elite night credits can be stacked with elite nights offered on Marriott Business Credit Cards for a total of 30 elite nights. They cannot be stacked with elite nights earned on other personal/consumer Marriott credit cards.

Complimentary Gold Elite Status

The Marriott Brilliant AMEX Card offers complimentary Marriott Gold Elite status. This is normally earned after staying 25 nights at Marriott brand hotels.

If you spend $75,000 on the Marriott Brilliant AMEX Card during the calendar year, you'll be given complimentary Marriott Platinum Elite status which is normally obtained after staying 50 nights at Marriott brand hotels.

When you book a 2-night or longer stay at a St. Regis or Ritz-Carlton property, you'll receive a $100 property credit. Marriott Brilliant card review

The benefits that are offered on the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant AMEX makes up for the high annual fee. In my opinion, the 50,000-point free night award alone can easily offer hundreds in value.

For example, here's some hotels in Miami that cost 50,000-points per night in which you would be able to stay in for free thanks to this certificate:

miami 50000 points

As you can see, using your complimentary free night at these hotels would give your certificate $371 to $474 in value which is fantastic. And while I do recommend using the free night certificate at 50,000-point hotels, there are many hotels that cost 35,000 points per night that still offer $200 to $300 in value.

Combine that with up to $300 in annual statement credits and you should easily be able to offset the annual fee of the card.

And this does not even include all the other benefits that comes with the card such as Priority Pass membership, the unlimited property credit at St Regis and The Ritz-Carlton properties worth up to $100 for each stay, complimentary elite status, and more.

Is The Marriott Brilliant Card Worth It?

If you're devoted to the Marriott brand and frequently stay at their hotels, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant AMEX Card can easily be worth picking up.

It's a great fit if you want to go a step beyond the basic benefits that Marriott's other cards offer. Even if you only stay at the hotel a handful of times per year, you should easily be able to squeeze out more than $450 in value from the card's many benefits.

On top of that, the increased earnings across general travel categories will help you to build your points slightly faster than other Marriott credit cards.
