Alamo Insiders is Alamo Rent A Car's free-to-join loyalty rewards program. You can sign up for a free account by going to the Alamo Insiders - Join page on their website. The page will require you to input your name and email address as well as come up with a password to log into your account.

Alamo Insiders Benefits

The Alamo Insiders Rewards Program does not offer rewards specific to Alamo, but it does allows you to earn airline miles, hotel points, and more when renting cars through them. You'll also receive discounts when booking with Alamo as well as be able to enjoy faster service since your info is already in the system.

• Earn 5% off car rental rates when booking with Alamo in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America.
• Enjoy faster service.
• Set up your account to automatically earn points, miles, and more through Alamo Partner Rewards.

How To Earn Points & Miles with Alamo

The easiest way to earn points and miles on your Alamo bookings is by going to the Alamo Partners page and clicking through to the airline or hotel partner of your choice. This automatically adds the partner code for the airline or hotel you select so all you have to do is enter the booking details. You can do this without having an Alamo Insiders account (though I do recommend having one).

If you have an Alamo account, you can also go to "My Profile" and add your favorite Partner Rewards program. When you do this, you'll earn points or miles with that partner anytime you book a rental with Alamo.

Alamo Frequent Traveler Recover Fee

Before you sign up to earn rewards, do note that Alamo charges a Frequent Traveler Recover Fee for earning points and miles with certain programs. Generally, this fee is up to $0.75 per day with the exception of Southwest Airlines which is up to $1.50 per day.

This is something that you will want to note when opting to earn rewards as you'll want to make sure the rewards you're earning are worth more than that fee.

Alamo + Rewards Portals

You can earn even more rewards on your Alamo bookings when you use a cash back portal. Cash back portals allow you to earn cash back in addition to both the 5% discount and the points and miles you'll earn using the Alamo Partner Rewards program.

Here's the quick rundown of how cash back portals work:

1. Find Alamo on the online portal of your choosing and click Shop Now.
2. The portal will drop you off on alamo.com to make your car reservation as normal (be sure to sign into your Alamo Insider Rewards account).
3. Once you book and complete your reservation, the online portal will be notified.
4. After the car reservation has been completed, you'll earn cash back (or other rewards) with that online portal.

Earn cash back booking travel through portals.

If done right, you'll be able to receive all of the following:

• Cash back (or other rewards) from the cash back portal.
• 5% discount on base rates for being an Alamo Insiders member.
• Points or miles from the Alamo Partner Rewards program.
• Points, miles, or cash back if you used a rewards credit card to pay for your rental.

I've earned lots of cash back using the Rakuten Rewards portal alone.

There's a handful of great cash back portals available and no portal is generally better than another portal as the cash back values change on a consistent basis. You can choose a favorite or sign up for all of them if you want the ability to book with whichever portal has the best deals at the time of your Alamo booking.
