Quick Overview
- Hilton Honors members can earn up to 34 points per $1 spent, combining base points, elite status points, and points from a Hilton Honors credit card.
- Members earn 10 base points per $1 at most Hilton properties, with exceptions being Tru and Home2 brands, where you earn 5 points per $1.
- Elite status bonus points depend on your Hilton Honors level: 20% for Silver, 80% for Gold, and 100% for Diamond, while basic members do not earn bonus points.
- Paying with a Hilton Honors credit card adds up to 14 points per $1 to your total earnings.
Base and elite status points post after your stay, while Hilton credit card points post after each billing cycle.
Use our Hilton Points Per Stay Calculator to see how many points you'll earn on your next stay, factoring in hotel brand, elite status, and if you pay with a Hilton co-branded card.
How are Hilton base points calculated?
Hilton Honors members earn 10 points per $1 spent on the base rate at most Hilton properties. So a hotel with a base price of $200 would earn you 2,000 Hilton Honors Points.
The only exception to this is when staying at True and Home2 brands in which you'll earn 5 points per $1 spent (excluding Home2 China).
Base points are earned on the base rate of the hotel and any other eligible room charges made to the hotel including room service and telephone calls. You will not earn Hilton base points for taxes, fees, or surcharges.
As with just about every hotel loyalty program, note that you will only earn base points on paid hotel stays.
You will not earn points on award/free nights since the base rate for the stay would be $0. You will still earn points on any other eligible room charges though.
How are Hilton Honors elite status points calculated?
Hilton Honors members with elite status will earn up to a 100% point bonus on the base rate. This equals up to an additional 10 points per $1 spent at Hilton brand hotels.
Level | Bonus | Points Earned |
---|---|---|
Member | No Bonus | 0 |
Silver | 20% | 2 |
Gold | 80% | 8 |
Diamond | 100% | 10 |
As an example, a stay at a hotel that costs $200 per night as a Hilton Diamond member would earn you 2,000 base points plus an additional 2,000 points for elite status (100%) for a total of 4,000 points per night.
How are Hilton Honors credit card points calculated?
Using Hilton credit cards to pay for stays at Hilton brand hotels can earn you up to an additional 14 points per $1 spent.
Paying for Hilton stays with a Hilton credit card can earn you up to 14 additional points per $1 spent. A key advantage of Hilton Honors credit cards is that, unlike base points and elite status points, you’ll also earn points on taxes and fees, as your room charge appears as a single transaction.
Points earned with Hilton credit cards post to your account after the end of each credit card statement, unlike base and elite status points, which are added shortly after your stay.
For example, a $200 stay as a Hilton Diamond member using the Hilton Surpass Card would earn 2,000 base points, 2,000 elite status points, and 2,400 credit card points, totaling 6,400 Hilton Honors points.
