If you're short on points, you can use your Aventura Card to handle the rest. $1 is equal to 100 Aventura Points when booking your award flight.
So if you were 1,000 points shy of your redemption, you could dish out $10 to make up for the shortage. This is equal to buying Aventura Points at the rate of 1 cent each which is a solid deal if you need to top off your account, but paying cash is the recommend route.

Merchandise
Aventura Points can be applied towards merchandise in the CIBC Rewards portal. The value you get from the portal will heavily vary depending on the item and the retail cost.
Generally, I would avoid using Aventura Points towards merchandise as they points are primarily for travel. If you're looking to cash out on merchandise, you'll want to consider cash back credit cards.
