Are transferring Hyatt points worth it?

Hyatt points have an average value range of 1.8 to 2.2 cents per point meaning that the value of 2.5 Hyatt points is around 4.5 to 5.5 cents. Most airline miles are worth around 1.2 to 1.5 cents on average.

So at a 2.5-to-1 conversion ratio, you'll more than likely lose significant value unless you have a really, really good airline redemption lined up that can offer you over 4 cents in value.

Personally, with Hyatt points being harder to accumulate than points with other hotel rewards program, I would stick to redeeming them for high value toward free nights—though it could be worth it to transfer a few points to top off your account if you're close to a redemption.

How to transfer Hyatt points

  1. Go to the Hyatt Points To Miles page.
  2. Select the airline you want to transfer your miles to and enter the Membership number.
  3. Enter how many Hyatt Points you want to convert to miles.
  4. Review the details and click 'Convert'.

You can convert Hyatt Points to airline miles in 1,250-point increments starting at a minimum of 5,000 Hyatt Points. Don't forget that you will also earn a bonus 5,000 miles when you convert 50,000 or more points in a single transaction.
