Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card
Calculate how much cash back you can earn and the cash value of the Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card based on spend, benefits, and fees.
The Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card is a great choice for any business that mainly deals with Amazon purchases. It's the highest cash back earning card for Amazon that also provides a great return on Whole Foods Market purchases as well as a decent return on gas, restaurants, and wireless telephone services. Do note that this card requires you to have Amazon Prime and that non-prime holders will receive the Amazon Business AMEX Card which earns a lower return.
The Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card features 5 bonus categories that earns cash back. Those categories are Amazon, Whole Foods Stores, gas stations, restaurants, and wireless telephone providers. There is no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn in these categories and no limit to the amount of cash back you can earn with the card in general.
The Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card earns 5% cash back per $1 spent on Amazon purchases. Amazon purchases include purchases made online at Amazon.com, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Amazon Business. This is the highest amount of cash back you can earn shopping on Amazon matching the return of the Chase Amazon Card and the Amazon Prime Store Card. Occasionally, the Chase Freedom and Discover IT will feature Amazon.com as a rotating 5% cash back category.
5% Whole Foods Stores
The Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card earns 5% cash back per $1 spent at Whole Foods Stores. This is one of the best returns you can earn at Whole Foods specifically with a business card and is well worth it if you have employees or family that shops there frequently. On the personal card side, the Chase Amazon Prime Card also earns 5% cash back at Whole Foods. You can even get 6% cash back at Whole Foods with the Blue Cash Preferred, but that's only on the first $6,000 in purchases for the year. So if you spend more than $8,160 per year or $680 per month at Whole Foods, the Amazon Prime cards will still put you ahead.
2% U.S. Restaurants
The Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card earns 2% cash back per $1 spent at restaurants. This is the same earning rate as the non-Prime version. When it comes to restaurant purchases for business cards, the AMEX Business Gold and Chase Ink Business Cash are going to be the best options.
The AMEX Business Gold Card earns 4 Membership Rewards Points per $1 spend on two categories with the highest spend between airfare, advertisement, gas stations, shipping, restaurant, and computer hardware/software/icloud computing. Membership Rewards Points are valued at 1 cent but can be worth as much as 2 cents each.
The Ink Business Cash earns 2% cash back at restaurants as well, but if you own an Ultimate Rewards Points earning card such as the Chase Ink Business Preferred, you can earn 2 Ultimate Rewards Points per $1 spent instead of cash back. Since Ultimate Rewards Points have a value of 1.25+ cents at minimum, you're looking at a return of 2.5% or higher when redeemed for travel or transferred to partners.
2% U.S. Gas Stations
The Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card earns 2% cash back per $1 spent at gas stations. For the same reasons as the restaurant category, the AMEX Business Gold and Chase Ink Business Cash would be the better options if you're looking for to maximize the earnings on gas station spending.
2% U.S. Wireless Telephone Services
The Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card earns 2% cash back per $1 spent on wireless telephone services. This is a decent return, but you can get a better bank for your buck with the Chase Ink Business Cash which earns 5% cash back or 5 Ultimate Rewards Points if you have a Ultimate Rewards Point earning card. If you're looking for cash back, the AMEX SimplyCash Card is another solid option since it earns big for wireless telephone services too.
All purchases outside of the categories listed above will earn 1% cash back per $1 spent. I recommend running non-category spend through a 1.5% or 2% cash back business card in order to maximize your return as non-category purchases can add up. The Capital One Spark Cash earns 2% cash back and the Capital One Spark Miles Business Visa earn 2 Spark Miles per $1 spent. Both cards have an annual fee, but if you spend enough on non-category purchases during the year, you will earn more cash back than a 1.5% cash back card such as the Chase Ink Business Unlimited.

The Amazon Business Prime AMEX Card offers a few additional perks for cardholders consisting of extended payment terms, shop with points, and Amazon Business Enhanced data views.
